In short
  • actuaria.mx is a free outreach site. Its content is informational and is not actuarial, financial, legal or tax advice.
  • Calculators and simulators give illustrative results; they do not replace a valuation, a quote or an official decision by IMSS, CONSAR or any authority.
  • You may quote and share the content for educational purposes, always with attribution and a link to actuaria.mx.
  • The WhatsApp community is voluntary and has rules; members who do not follow them may be removed.

01Acceptance and scope

These Terms and conditions (the "Terms") govern access to and use of the website actuaria.mx and its English version (together, the "Site"), as well as participation in the actuaries community on WhatsApp promoted from the Site (the "Community").

By browsing the Site, using any of its tools or sending a request to join the Community, you accept these Terms, the Privacy notice and the Cookie policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

On the Site's forms, consent is collected through separate checkboxes: one for these Terms, another for the Privacy notice and, where applicable, an optional checkbox for secondary purposes. No checkbox is pre-ticked.

03Nature of the content

The purpose of the Site is to promote and strengthen the actuarial profession in Mexico. All content is informational, educational and for reference.

  • It is not professional actuarial, financial, investment, legal, tax, labor or social security advice, and it does not create a professional or contractual relationship between the user and the owner.
  • It is not an official site of any authority, college, association or university (for example CNSF, CONSAR, IMSS, SEP, CONAC, AMA, AMAC, IAA, SOA or CAS). References to these entities are informational and link to their official sources.
  • Although accuracy is sought, information may contain errors or omissions or become outdated. Always verify data, requirements and current regulations with official sources before making decisions.

04Calculators, simulators and data

The Site offers interactive calculators, an actuarial lab, an IMSS pension simulator, tables and data series. By using them you acknowledge that:

  • Results are illustrative estimates based on simplified assumptions, models and parameters described in each tool, and may differ materially from actual outcomes.
  • They are not an actuarial valuation, an opinion, a technical note, a quote, an insurance offer or an official pension calculation. For real decisions, consult a duly accredited actuary or the competent authority.
  • Downloadable data comes from public sources cited in each case and may have lags or later revisions by the original source.
  • Calculations run in your browser. Values you enter in the tools are not sent to or stored on any Site server.

05Permitted use and prohibited conduct

You agree to use the Site lawfully, in good faith and in accordance with these Terms. In particular, you may not:

  • Use the content for unlawful purposes or in ways that infringe the rights of others.
  • Substantially reproduce, republish or sell the content without authorization, or present it as your own.
  • Extract content in bulk or by automated means (scraping) in a way that affects the operation of the Site, or frame it within another site so as to hide its origin.
  • Introduce malicious code, attempt unauthorized access to systems or circumvent security measures.
  • Impersonate the owner or third parties, or use the actuaria.mx name for purposes other than those of the Site.

06Intellectual property and license

Original texts, the selection and arrangement of content, design, illustrations, videos, the code of the tools and the "Actuaría.mx" brand belong to the owner or are used under license, and are protected by Mexico's Federal Copyright Law, Federal Industrial Property Protection Law and applicable treaties.

You are granted a free, personal, non-exclusive and revocable license to view the content and use it for educational, academic and non-commercial purposes, including quoting excerpts in classes, theses or presentations, provided you cite the source ("Source: actuaria.mx") and, where possible, link to the page. If a page states a different license, that license prevails for its content.

Third-party trademarks, logos, book covers and institutional images belong to their owners and are shown for informational purposes only, without implying affiliation or endorsement. If you are a rights holder and believe any content should be corrected or removed, write to us and we will address it promptly.

07Actuaries community on WhatsApp

The Community is a free, voluntary initiative for students, graduates and professionals to share questions, calls, events and opportunities. By requesting to join you accept the following:

  • Requirements. You must be at least 18 years old or have the authorization of your parent or guardian. The information you send must be truthful.
  • Rules. You agree to follow the rules published in the Community section: respectful conduct, no advertising, sales or chain messages, job posts only in their group and with real contact details, and no sharing of confidential information about employers, clients or exams.
  • Moderation. The coordinator may accept or decline requests, delete messages and remove members who break the rules, without incurring any liability.
  • Members' content. Each member is responsible for what they post. Opinions shared in the groups do not represent the Site owner and are not advice.
  • Visibility. Because of how WhatsApp works, your phone number, name and profile photo may be visible to other group members. See the Privacy notice.
  • Platform. WhatsApp is a service of WhatsApp LLC (Meta Platforms). Its use is governed by that company's terms and privacy policy; the Site has no affiliation with it.
  • Leaving. You may leave the Community or any group at any time directly from WhatsApp.

08Questions by WhatsApp or email

The Site offers a WhatsApp button and a contact email for questions about the profession. Answers are given in good faith, free of charge and for guidance only, and do not create a professional, contractual or advisory relationship. Please do not share sensitive personal data (for example, health data) or confidential information in these messages.

09Third-party links and content

The Site links to pages of universities, associations, authorities, publishers and other resources to make information easier to reach. The owner does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content, availability or privacy policies. You access them at your own risk.

10Advertising

The Site may be partly funded by Google AdSense advertising. Ads are identified as such, do not imply endorsement by the owner, and their content is the responsibility of the advertisers. Advertising is currently turned off. The use of advertising cookies is explained in the Cookie policy.

11Availability and changes to the Site

The owner may modify, update, suspend or withdraw the Site, any of its sections or the Community, temporarily or permanently, without notice. Uninterrupted or error-free availability is not guaranteed.

12Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Site and its tools are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, the owner shall not be liable for any damages arising from:

  • The use of, or inability to use, the Site, its calculators or the Community.
  • Decisions made on the basis of the content or the results of the tools.
  • Errors, omissions, interruptions, viruses or technical failures, whether of the Site or of third-party services.
  • Content, messages or conduct of other Community members or of third-party sites.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law.

13Indemnity

You agree to hold the owner harmless from any third-party claims arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Site or the Community.

14Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated to reflect changes to the Site or to the law. The current version is the one published on this page with its last-updated date. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the new version.

15General provisions

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Failure to exercise a right is not a waiver of it. These Terms are written in Spanish; this English version is a courtesy translation and, in case of discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.

16Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the federal laws of the United Mexican States. For their interpretation and enforcement, the parties submit to the competent courts of Mexico City, waiving any other venue that may correspond to them by reason of their present or future domicile.

For any questions about these Terms, write to frank@actuario.mx.
