How this video library was built

Listening to other actuaries explain their work is one of the most efficient ways to learn what is not in the textbooks: how an assumption is debated, what questions a supervisor asks, why a model failed on a real claim. Professional associations publish hundreds of hours of webinars, podcasts and talks every year, but they are scattered across different sites and almost all in English.

This library brings together 48 free, verified resources, following the idea behind the IAA's Events Library: one place with filters by type, topic and language. There are 11 podcasts, 13 channels, 11 webinars, 12 talks and 1 video course. 19 resources are in Spanish, mostly from CONAC (Colegio Nacional de Actuarios), AMIS (Mexican Association of Insurance Companies), CONSAR (National Retirement Savings Commission), the IAA and Mexican universities.

The inclusion criteria were strict. Every link was opened on October 16, 2026 and confirmed to belong to the stated organization: channels are linked from the institution's official website or their content establishes it, and for podcasts we checked the number of episodes and the date of the latest one. When a resource has not published anything in more than a year, we say so in its entry so you can use it as an archive. We discarded channels with names similar to an institution's but no verifiable connection to it.

The best in Spanish

CONAC

Webinars and Jornadas de Actuarización

The Colegio's channel posts recordings of its webinars (ethics and technology, marine claims, behavioral insights) and technical talks such as the one on matrix distributions. It is the place to hear Mexican actuaries discuss local problems.

CONSAR

Seminario CONSAR 2026

Sessions published throughout 2026 on the economic impact of pension funds, the minimum wage, inequality of opportunity, financial markets and the demographic transition. Essential for anyone working in pensions.

AMIS

Insurance industry figures

Press conferences and presentations with market data: vehicle theft, medical expenses, hydrometeorological events. Useful for putting a study in context with recent public information.

For students: Anáhuac's Jornadas de Actuarización playlist and the CAS case competitions in Spanish show the technical level expected on graduation. Complement them with the community and mentoring guide.

How to get the most out of a webinar or podcast

A talk watched without a purpose is forgotten within a week. This simple method turns an hour of video into something you can use at work or in an exam.

  1. Choose with a question. Before you click, write down what you want to figure out: for example, how longevity affects a life annuity, or what the limits of a model's interpretability are.
  2. Note three ideas and one question. When you finish, summarize what you learned in three lines and write down the question you were left with. That question guides your next reading.
  3. Find the source. Almost every speaker cites a study, a standard or a package. Track it down: a webinar is the entry point, not the final reference.
  4. Reproduce something. If the talk shows a calculation, try to replicate it with your own data or with the site's open source recipes.
  5. Share and discuss. Talk about the resource with your study group or actuarial club. Explaining it to others is the best proof that you understood it.
Continuing education: if you want a webinar to count toward continuing education hours, keep proof of registration and attendance, and check your professional association's or certifying body's rules beforehand.

Frequently asked questions

Are all the resources free?
Yes. We include only content that can be watched or listened to without paying: public podcasts, open YouTube videos, event libraries with free access and downloadable presentations. Some organizations also sell webinars or courses; those are not in the catalog.
How was each resource verified?
We opened every link on October 16, 2026 and confirmed that it works and belongs to the stated organization. For channels we checked that the institution's official website links to them or that their content confirms it; for podcasts we checked the number of episodes and the date of the most recent one. When a channel or podcast has not published anything in more than a year, we flag it as an archive.
Does watching webinars count as continuing education?
It depends on the body that certifies you. Some associations recognize hours for webinars or podcasts subject to certain registration and evidence requirements. Before counting them, check the continuing education rules of the association that certifies you; the IAA webinar on continuing education policies explains how these rules are designed.
Why are there so few resources in Spanish?
Because open content production in Spanish is still smaller. We included what we could verify from CONAC, AMIS, CONSAR, the IAA and Mexican universities. If you know of a Spanish-language actuarial channel or podcast that publishes regularly, you can suggest it for the next update.
Why are the CNSF and the AMA not listed?
We could not find an official video channel or podcast from the CNSF or from the Asociación Mexicana de Actuarios that we could verify. The AMA publicizes its activity on its blog Piensa AMA and on LinkedIn, and presents work such as the Premio Fundadores papers in hybrid sessions. We will include them as soon as there is a verifiable official channel.
